Taiwanese Actor Jasper Liu's Expensive Mineral Water Purchase
Entertainment

Taiwanese actor Jasper Liu experienced a shock after buying bottled mineral water in Singapore recently.

The 39-year-old, who is set to star in a new drama, shared his surprising encounter on Instagram on Monday (Feb 9).

In his post, he advised, "Remember to be mindful of exchange rates when traveling abroad. Initially, I thought I should only buy one bottle of water per person. However, after making the purchase, something felt amiss. Upon inquiring about the exchange rate and doing some calculations, I was astonished.

"It turned out that the three bottles of water cost almost TW$1,600 (S$64). Haha. I suppose this can be considered a new achievement, right? Heh. Does anyone fancy a drink of water?"

From the photo he shared, it was Beaupre water, described as "French mountain spring water" that "naturally emerges from the heart of Provence in a perfectly preserved site at the bottom of the beautiful Sainte Baume".

According to Le Petit Depot by Redman's online website, a pack of 12 Beaupre bottles (1.5 liters each) costs $19.95. The exact location where he bought the water remains unclear.

Netizens commented on his post, highlighting the memorable nature of the costly water bottles, to which Jasper responded that he was "shocked".

His fans also joked that the water probably tasted "sweeter" and "better", to which he amusingly replied, "It tasted like gold".

Local actress Cynthia Koh, who co-stars with him in the drama, quipped, "Drinking alcohol is cheaper than drinking water."

In Jasper's upcoming series "Crisis Man," slated to premiere in September, he portrays Situ Feng, a specialist in resolving crises through unconventional methods with his team, Hand of God. While he appears cold and pragmatic, focusing solely on money and power, he is haunted by his parents' brutal and unsolved murders.

Other members of Hand of God include Miss O (Cynthia), former underground boxing champion Lin Xiaolong (Nick Teo), and Wang Ruonan (Hong Ling).

Ruonan's life descends into chaos after her father commits murder and disappears, leaving her to deal with the aftermath alone.

Driven by the quest to find her father, she joins Hand of God but faces dilemmas between her conscience and self-interest while solving cases. Meanwhile, she seeks emotional support from police officer Cheng Feng (Tyler Ten), a longtime friend of Feng.

While Cheng Feng may not always agree with Feng's methods, he still seeks his help when cases exceed the police's capabilities. As they collaborate, they realize that the true crisis may have been among them all along.
