Eva's Pancake Closes After Six Years of Operation
Lifestyle

After six years of operation, Eva's Pancake, a well-known hawker stall, has announced its closure with its last day scheduled for Feb 16.

In a Facebook post on Feb 3, the stall expressed gratitude to its customers for their support and for sharing the journey over the past six years.

Situated in Geylang East Market and Food Centre, Eva's Pancake was famous for its affordable min jiang kueh with generous fillings priced as low as $1.20. Popular flavors like peanut, red bean, and coconut were available at $1.20 each. Pancakes with two fillings, such as peanut and peanut butter, or peanut and chocolate, were priced at $1.50.

The stall was founded by 33-year-old Eva Lee, a former accountant from Johor, who started the business in Toa Payoh after participating in the National Environment Agency's incubation stall program in 2020. Eva decided to close the stall due to health reasons, including varicose veins, chronic numbness in her hands, and back pains caused by the physical strain of running the business.

Despite the closure, Eva expressed gratitude to her loyal customers for their support and shared that the experience of running the stall was a significant period in her life. She mentioned that the closure marked a new chapter for her as she pursues a course in early childhood education.

Popularity Surge

The popularity of Eva's Pancake surged when a local food enthusiast, Andrew Tang, praised the stall as the best pancake he had ever encountered. Tang's endorsement led to an influx of customers visiting the stall to try the min jiang kueh.

Eva thanked Tang for the support and attributed the stall's success to his recommendation.
